History
The P-1839 Tower Musket was originally designed as a flintlock weapon similar in design to the East India Pattern Bess. Before it could go into regular production, however, the army adopted the percussion ignition system. The weapon was quickly reworked to incorporate the new design and introduced as Britain’s first production percussion musket. Despite the updated firing system, the arm retained many of the aesthetic attributes of previous patterns, most notably its lack of barrel bands.
The 1839 Tower was produced until 1851 and both the US & CS governments purchased quantities of these weapons during the rush for arms early in the war. Estimates are that the US purchased around 3,000 while the Confederates acquired nearly 30,000.
Our Reproduction

Its bright finish, hardwood stock, lack of barrel bands, and massive .76 caliber bore is sure to draw attention in the battle-line. Living historians will appreciate that the weapon requires no defarbing, and incorporates authentic features like the treble-screw side-plate and button-head style ramrod.
The musket also features authentic lock markings and will accept a brown-bess bayonet. Like all of our muskets, it comes with a limited warranty.
